Former employee admits to defrauding company €9,000
Justin Farrugia, 20, from Bormla, admitted to defrauding the company he used to work for, C. Camilleri and Sons Ltd, out of €9,000.
Mr Farrugia admitted to stealing sugar, flour, nuts and 746 bottles of wine from the company’s warehouse and re-selling them to other confectioners at half price.
Initially, C. Camilleri and Sons requested a payment of over €11,000 from Mr Farrugia, but Justice Anthony Ellul said that this sum was overinflated, and ordered Mr Farrugia to pay back €9,000.
He was also sentenced to two years imprisonment suspended for four years.
Lawyer Veronique Dalli represented Mr Farrugia.
