The Malta Tourism Authority together with Air Malta, Globalair and Corinthia Hotels hosted over 180 travel agents from Germany as part of an ADAC familiarization trip.

ADAC Reisen is owned by DERTOUR which is part of the REWE Group currently ranking as second biggest tour operator in the German market in terms of turnover, whilst DERTOUR is Germany’s leading tour operator for tailor-made packages.

The three day trip included workshops and visits to the Island’s main heritage and cultural sites such as Valletta, Mdina, Hagar Qim and Marsaxlokk. Gastronomy also played an important part of the program with a visit to the sister island of Gozo, where the agents had the opportunity to sample local dishes, delicacies and award winning wines.

As a result of the success of this year’s event, DERTOUR have chosen Malta as the venue for their major annual press conference to be held in November 2013. This event will bring to Malta all the leading German journalists specializing in Travel and Leisure.

The group was hosted courtesy of Corinthia San Gorg Hotel whilst local DMC Globalair carried out the diverse programme of events in Malta.

Top executives and staff of tour operators REWE, ADAC and DERTOUR also joined the group which included a Sales Conference and the launch of the Summer 2013 brochure
