Lawyer Joe Mifsud has filed a complaint with the Police Commissioner asking for legal action to be taken against Emmanuel Bonanno of Zebbug, after a Facebook message claimed that Dr Mifsud was bribed into passing biased political comments.

The message posted by Emmanuel Bonanno read “Where before you used to speak well of the Labour Party and criticise the Nationalist Party, now you do not. Have you been bribed? I expect an answer as to whether or not you still belong in the Labour Party" The lawyer immediately informed the accused that he will be taking legal action after the message was published and challenged him to provide proof of his allegation.

Dr Mifsud declared that any monies he wins from this suit will be donated to Puttinu Cares, Caritas, Dar tal-Providenza and Arka Foundation.

The lawyer said that the allegation made by the accused against him is very serious and slanderous particularly in view of his office of lawyer and his job as a presenter on national television
