Cliff Micallef, the LifeCycle participant who was killed whilst training in 2009, was commemorated during a ceremony in Pembroke this morning.

Mr Micallef, an active member of the National Cycling Federation, was run over by a car on the Coast Road whilst training for the marathon, just a few metres away from the garden where the memorial ceremony was held.

Minister George Pullicino attended the ceremony, along with many of Mr Micallef's family members and friends.

Every year, Maltese LifeCyclists raise funds for kidney patients by taking part in a gruelling 11-day cycling marathon overseas.
