Gaetano Micallef, 29, of Hamrun has been remanded in custody after he pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on his brother.

The 29-year-old was accused of seriously injuring his brother with a glass mug yesterday. The prosecution, however, cleared any attempted murder charges.

Micallef was also accused that in the previous weeks he uttered insults or threats with violence and death towards his mother and brother.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

He was not granted bail and is being remanded in custody at the Corradino Correctional Facility.

The case has been deferred for September 30.

Inspector Robert Vella prosecuted.
