Man fined €6,600 for involuntary homicide
Clint Xuereb, 24 from Naxxar was fined €6,600 and had his licence suspended for three years, after Magistrate Doreen Clarke found him guilty of involuntary homicide.
The Court heard that the accused crashed his car whilst driving on the Coast Road on January 27 at 04:30h and killing 18-year-old passenger Yana Xerri. The Court noted that Xuereb was under the influence of alcohol while he was operating the vehicle and driving at excessive speed in the direction of St. Paul’s Bay. The car hit a wall, then collided with a pole.
The Court held that it could not believe Xuereb’s testimony, who claimed he was driving at a speed of around 70 km/h. The accused was also found guilty of committing an offence while under probation.
