Ministers who don't use second car earn €7,000 more each year
Ministers who don't make use of a second ministerial car have a car allowance of up to €7,000 more each year. The same applies for the Leader of the Opposition.
Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said this in response to a parliamentary question posed by MP Charles Buhagiar this evening, adding that this had been the practice for several legislations.
The allowance is subjected to the usual tax rates.
