Muscat passing off PN proposals as his own - Ministers
PL leader Joseph Muscat is passing off the PN’s Grand Harbour projects as his own proposals, the Minister for Infrastructure Transport and Communications Austin Gatt said.
The project regarding the Cospicua shore line is an important project which demonstrates the importance the Government has given the region, he added. In contrast, the PL didn’t want the EU funds which are paying for the landscaping in Bormla, however now that these works are showing promise, Dr Muscat has gone there and pledged to finish them.
The Government had indeed planned to finish these projects by today, however the contractor went bankrupt and new tenders had to be released in order to pick a new contractor, he concluded.
The Minister for Resources and Rural Affairs George Pullicino has released a statement arguing that the tender for a Waterpolo pitch in Birzebbuga was brought out in April 2012 and a Public Contract Board is scheduled to meet on January 30 to decide which company will handle the project. “The Government has already committed €2 million for this project”.
With regards to the football ground, the Minister explained that €1.3 million spread over three years have already been committed and the necessary MEPA permits were released in November 2012 with the tender to be released from the Department for contracts in the coming days.
