MUT launches pre-election document
'Education should cease being a political ball game between the two main parties every time an election is on the doorstep', said MUT President Keith Bonello.
Speaking during the presentation of the union’s pre-election document, the MUT president stated that education is made up of three pillars: the home and family, the community and the school.
Both the government and the public, however, tend to address and place all the educational burden just on schools. ‘One should also consider the impact the family and the community are having on our children, instead of simply pointing fingers at the schooling sector,” Keith Bonello reiterated.
The 22-page document highlights a number of factors that portray the Union’s proposals to the political parties in order to ensure a better educational system not only academically but also socially, addressing topics such as bullying, child behavior and the relation between school and work.
