One dead, several injured by gunfire at Los Angeles airport
A US Transportation Security Administration employee was shot dead at Los Angeles International Airport this afternoon and several people were reportedly injured after a person opened fire.
Eyewitnesses reported at least twelve shots fired inside the security area of Terminal 3.
Heavily armed police engaged with the single shooter who was arrested after opening fire near Terminal 3.
The incident occurred at 09:30h local time (16:30h GMT) and hundreds of passengers were evacuated from the airport by the authorities who surrounded the scene and closed off all access. Departing flights were delayed and arriving airlines were rerouted to other airports as the Los Angeles International Airport was closed by the authorities.
