Pain control intervention launched at MDH
A new service called Dorsal Column Stimulation was launched at Mater Dei Hospital for patients suffering from chronic pain by the Minister for Health, The Elderly and Community Care Joseph Cassar, this morning.
Minister Cassar explained how patients suffering from chronic pain will now be able to benefit from this new service allowing them to lead a more ‘normal’ life. The intervention consists of implanting the patient with a unit that stimulates the dorsal column to reduce the pain and costs the Government around €35,000 for every unit.
Dr Joe Cassar thanked the staff at the Pain Control Clinic who help people suffering from constant pain in achieving and leading a better quality of life
