Parliament move expected mid-2014
The move of the House of Representatives to the new building at City Gate is expected towards mid-2014, the Speaker announced this morning.
Talking on national television, Dr Anglu Farrugia, said that move will happen most probably around June 2014. He added that most of the problems that were raised after the March elections have now been addressed. “Nevertheless, some problems still exist and discussions on these are still ongoing. Logistics and work will determine the appropriate time for the move to the new Parliament most probably around June next year.”
In April, the Prime Minister met Architect Renzo Piano and discussed the original brief for the City Gate project, its concept and the way forward.
