PM welcomes EU summit outcome
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has welcomed the European Council summit outcome, praising the EU member states for talks on balance.
Whilst addressing the Maltese press, Joseph Muscat said that many believed there would be a big divide between spending and austerity, however said that there was a convergence towards common sense. He emphasised that focusing on austerity alone would result in no economic growth.
Dr Muscat argued that the conclusions of the Summit were in line with the PL Manifesto, which include the Youth Guarantee and a fight against bureaucracy. He mentioned that EU Leaders were well-briefed on how the situation in Malta had evolved.
With regards to energy, the Prime Minister added that he has already met with Minister for Energy and Conservation of Water Konrad Mizzi where they discussed the timetable for the new gas energy plan.
