President will dissolve Parliament on Monday morning
The President of Malta, Dr George Abela, will dissolve Parliament on Monday January 7, 2013, at 9:30h according to the official engagements issued by the office of the President.
Once the President issues the Proclamation dissolving the House of Representatives and calling for general elections the process is expected to start for elections to be held on Saturday March 9, 2013.
Parliament has not met since December 10, 2012, when government lost a vote on the Budget for this year after PN MP, Franco Debono, voted against.
Both government and Opposition had agreed to postpone the electoral campaign to next week to allow the country to celebrate the festive season.
