Priest abuse victims file claim for compensation
The ten victims of priest abuse today filed a claim in court requesting compensation.
The claim was filed against Godwin Scerri and Carmel Pulis, the two priests who were found guilty of abuse, the Missionary Society of St Paul, the Archdiocese of Malta and the directors general at the Office of the Prime Minister, the Education and Employment Ministry and the Social Solidarity and Family Ministry.
The claim for compensation was filed by victims Lawrence Grech, Joseph Magro, Leonard Camilleri, David Cassar, Noel Dimech, Angelo Spiteri, Ray Azzopardi, Charles Falzon, Philip Gauci and Joseph Mangion.
Among the witnesses who will be called to testify are the Commissioner for Police, Archbishop Pawl Cremona, Mons. Charles Scicluna, Judge Emeritus Victor Caruana Colombo and a number of doctors and Appogg personnel.
The claim was made by Lawyers Patrick Valentino and Franco Vassallo.
