Policeman  Chris Granata said that Simon Balzan, the son-in-law of 75-year-old Joseph Borg, approached him and said “you can either say the truth, say nothing or lie”.

Joe Borg, the “whistleblower” in the Rita Schembri case is being charged with sending a defamatory and blackmailing e-mail to Ms. Schembri (The head of the Government Internal Audit Bureau).

It was claimed in the last sitting that Policeman Chris Granata was approached by Mr Mark Schembri, Rita’s husband, last Saturday, who told him that he wanted to kill Mr. Borg.

During his testimony, Mr. Granata claimed this was not the case. He said that he had been approached by Mr. Balzan who told him that he had three options when testifying, “to say the truth, say nothing or lie”.
