Rugby players complete course

A number of participants completed the Level 1 IRB/MRFU Strength and Conditioning Course, which aimed to provide a basic knowledge and understanding of the key elements in integrated conditioning for rugby.

The objectives were for coaches to be introduced to LTPD, functional screen, anatomical adaptation, demands of the game, principles of training, warm, up and cool down, integrated fitness methods, speed development, periodisation and recovery.

The course, which was held at the MRFU Clubhouse on Saturday, September 29 between 09.00h and 17.00h, was a competence-based course and involved on-course appraisal, including both classroom and outdoor practical sessions.

Certificates are recognised internationally.
