Residents in the localities of Sliema and St. Julians who live in apartment blocks are being warned by the authorities and their landlords of a recent spike in burglaries supposedly being carried out by “professional” foreign burglars who are targeting apartment blocks, break the locks and steal valuables in a matter of minutes.

The warning included a notice advising the residents to keep doors locked including block doors and to report any suspicious activities to the police straight away.

They were also warned against letting anyone into the complex or block or open gates by intercom to anyone they are not acquainted with.

A few sources have indicated Bulgarian number plates on cars used for burglaries but the authorities have not confirmed as yet.
