Article By: news

The Coalition for the Abolition of Spring Hunting has collected in excess of 40,000 signatures after having surpassed the threshold required for an abrogative referendum.

This was revealed this evening by Coalition representative Rudolph Ragonesi during TimesTalk discussion programme on national television.

Dr Ragonesi said that the collection of signatures was faster than expected probably due to a number of illegal hunting cases and by the FKNK which was trying to move the goalposts with its own petition in an attempt to amend the Referenda Act.

The president of the FKNK, Joe Perici Calascione, said that he could not say how many signatures were collected till now. He also added that he was not surprised that 40,000 signatures were collected since people may have been tricked into signing.

The Coalition for the Abolition of Spring Hunting is calling for an abrogative referendum to remove the legislation that allows spring hunting. The petition cannot be signed online it must be signed by hand using the petition forms that the coalition has prepared.
