Tonio Fenech and Simon Busuttil face PN Councillors

A total of 888 PN Councillors are today faced with a decision that will see Minister of Finance Tonio Fenech or MEP Simon Busittil securing the post of Deputy Leader of the Nationalist Party which was recently vacated by Tonio Borg.

The election for the post of Deputy Leader kicked off at 10:00h this morning after a number of councillors had already cast their vote last weekend.

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, President Emeritus Eddie Fenech Adami, Party Secretary General Paul Borg Olivier and president of the PN General Council Paula Mifsud Bonnici together with both runners for the post of Deputy Leader met at around 11:00h to cast their personal votes.

At the same time a buscade of law students stopped outside the PN headquarters and stormed the reception are chanting Nazjonalisti Nazjonalisti and Vive Gonzi, to the amusement of PN Leader Lawrence Gonzi, Ministers Tonio Fenech and Francis Zammit Dimech and MEP Simon Busuttil all of which joined in the graduates’ celebrations.
