In the past few days, the truth about the promise of the creation of 5,600 jobs in Smart City has been exposed, said Opposition Spokesperson for consumer rights, communication and information technology, Michael Farrugia in a press conference held this morning.

Farrugia said that before the most recent general election, GonziPN had declared that the Smart City project would yield 5,600 jobs within a five year span.

Despite the promise, Farrugia added, the directors of Smart City stated that there never was a binding number of how many workers were being employed.

During the press conference, a clip from an interview PN candidate and ex-Smart City CEO Claudio Grech gave, was shown. In this clip, he said that this was a longterm project and the number of jobs should not be measured.

Farrugia claimed that all this evidence exposed the truth with regards to Smart City, and concluded by saying that a new government would invest more in research and innovation.
