Updated: Zejtun murder may be linked to other murders
The murder of Peter Cassar, who was killed this afternoon with two shots fired from close range from a 9mm weapon, could be linked to other murders which took place in the past few months, Police Assistant Commissioner Silvio Valletta said this evening.
Mr Valletta said that the Police was investigating possible links to previous murders but refused to confirm there is any connection with the murder of Paul Degabriele who was killed by shots fired from a 9mm gun.
Mr Cassar was killed when three shots were fired in his direction as he stood in his garage in Sta Marija Street, in Zejtun. After being hit with two shots Mr Cassar managed to walk out of the garage but collapsed soon after.
The Police appealed to anyone who may have any information to contact the police in confidence on telephone 119.
Mr Cassar, 67, was shot dead in St Mary Street, Zejtun, this afternoon in the third murder this year. He was known to the Police, The incident happened at around 14:15h.
This is the third murder this year after a man was shot dead last week as he sat in the driver's seat of his car in Marsa while a Serbian was stabbed in the heart yesterday.
