US Embassy supports summer camp for Maltese & migrant children
The US Embassy is supporting the NGO ‘Organisation for Friendship in Diversity’ (OFD), which organised a two-week summer camp for children of all nationalities between September 3 and 14, 2012.
80 children from countries in Africa, Asia and Europe participated in activities designed to promote inclusion and diversity and to highlight the values of multicultural communication and friendship.
U.S. Ambassador Gina Abercrombie-Winstanley met the children during their Sports Day activity in Ta’ Qali on Friday, September 7.
The Ambassador said she was delighted that so many nationalities were represented during the event.
The event highlights the enormous benefits migrants bring to a country and the importance of physical activity and healthy eating.
Volunteers from the U.S. Embassy joined OFD volunteers in organizing active games and sports events.
Ambassador Abercrombie-Winstanley had words of encouragement for all the children when she presented each one with a medal.
