Dr. Busuttil expressed his readiness for the job ahead, a job to help rebuild the Nationalist Party and win the upcoming election.

“From this point on, I’m going to work hand in hand with Lawrence Gonzi to win the general election. We will win by rebuilding the people’s trust in us. We must win back the trust of the people who no longer identify, or have broken off from our party. We must realise that the PN is not just the party for the PN delegates; it’s the party of the people. If people want a change we must show them, that we are the change which is good for them,” Dr. Busuttil stated during his victory speech.

Leader of the PN, Lawrence Gonzi declared his confidence in the party for the upcoming election.

“We are the party that has and will continue to bring better change for our country. Together, we will win the election,” Dr. Gonzi said. "The PN is ready to again shoulder the responsibility of running the country"

In his concession speech Minister of Finance Fenech explained that this was an extremely difficult vote for the delegates of the party, but that this isn't a case of one person winning and one losing, but rather showed how strong the party really is.“This election has brought the party together, and together we will push forward”, said Tonio Fenech .

Dr. Gonzi and Dr. Busuttil thanked all members of the party for the way the deputy election was handled.

When asked if he will try and reconcile the party with Franco Debono Dr. Busuttil said “I will not consider going against the decision of the executive”. He said he was Ready to work with Minister of Transport Austin gatt.
