2014 starts with a big event for both the Luqa Local Council and the Island Karting Club.
As every year arrives and bigger events are requested the Luqa Mayor Mr.John Schembri and executive committee members have shown their trust once again in Island Karting Club President Mr. Adrian Cauchi a Motorsport enthusiast from Luqa and the Island Karting Club to organize and be part of this huge event.
A massive Auto show with over 170 participants will be held during the day with kids and adult go karting races in the afternoon. Participating organizations for the Auto show with thanks are the Classic Sports Car Club Malta, Classic Ford Club Malta, Old Motors Club Malta and Malta Mustang Club. A special feature is a show organized with a section of just Luqa enthusiasts cars and motorcycles. The auto show will be held in the Luqa square and adjacent streets. At 11:30am a ceremony will be held by the Mayor and council to present certificates to all auto show participants.
This year one will see the best set up to date, including spectacular racing from Malta’s best kart racers, the Island Karting Club will hit the streets of Luqa at 12:30 starting with a go kart parade lining from Baby karts to Mini karts to full size pro karts. These karts will parade through the street track before entering to start the first heat of the day, over 25 karts have registered for this event. The kart races shall continue until 4:00pm where at 4:30 another ceremony shall be held with the Mayor and executive council presenting trophies to all participants.
At this time both the Luqa council and Island Karting Club in collaboration shall present token s to the local band clubs, Saint Andrews Band Club and the Union Band Club along with the Luqa parish church for cooperation and appreciation. All proceeds collected by the Island Karting Club members shall go to the Luqa foundation for those in need.
Executive music by DJ BON will entertain the atmosphere while food court and activities will be held around the square with a great time guaranteed. Special attractions will be the new Red Bull start finish arch that will stand from one side to the other of the Luqa square, flag poles circulate the whole festival with the Maltese flags waving on this spectacular day and a complete pit lane with karts on site for a close up look at behind the scenes mechanical work action.
