On January 15, the International Military Sports Council (CISM) President María Fernanda Espinosa, together with Ecuadorian Minister for Sports, Physical Education and recreation Augusto Moran as honorary witness, proceeded to the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding for the organisation of the 2nd CISM World Cadet Games “Ecuador 2014”.

This event was attended by the highest military leaders, the directors of the military academies of Ecuador and other civilian and military authorities.

In her speech, President Espinosa highlighted the fact that “Ecuador counts flourishing sports infrastructures. Our Government has invested in this field thanks to a policy of inclusion and unconditional support to high level sport. For all of us this is a real pride and privilege to be the host of the World Cadets Games in 2014 and we are very grateful to the support demonstrated by the CISM, its authorities and its General Secretariat, for their enthusiasm and careful supervision of the whole process of preparation of this event until next year.”

The CISM President, taking into account the sports infrastructure available in the formation schools for officers in the three branches of the Armed Forces, had encouraged the International Military Sports Council to propose Ecuador as host of the 2nd CISM World Cadets Games in the year 2014. The following disciplines will be organised: military pentathlon, volley-ball, swimming, orienteering, athletics, shooting (rifle and pistol).

This sport event will take place from August 31 to September 6 2014. More details available at
