Badminton Malta launches new season
The new badminton season officially kicked off last Friday with the presentation night for the winners and runners up of the Individuals Singles and Doubles Leagues and the Mixed Teams League. Organised by Badminton Malta and held at the Marsa Sports Club, the presentation was well attended by badminton enthusiasts, their families, and friends, who gathered in a friendly atmosphere to salute the 2012/13 badminton season and welcome a new one.
BM President, Angiolino Sciberras, expressed his satisfaction for a number of ‘breakthroughs’ achieved throughout the season. In particular, he mentioned Badminton Malta’s return to international competitions, the training camps carried out by foreign coaches for the ever-improving Junior Academy players, as well as for the participation and the level of play shown throughout the competitions organised by Badminton Malta. He ensured that BM will continue to work on this year’s achievements so that the upcoming season will be an even better one.
Mr Sciberras congratulated the winners and runners-up for their hard work and well-deserved achievement. He also gave credit to all the participants who, albeit without winning, contributed to the successful season with their participation.
The BM President concluded his speech by thanking Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport and the Malta Olympic Committee for their contribution towards helping badminton grow. He also thanked Da Vinci Hospital and Mrs Janatha Stubbs without whose help Badminton Malta would not have been able to achieve this year’s results.
Dr Pierre Vassallo, on behalf of Da Vinci Hospital, presented the trophies to the winners and runners up of the competitions. He said that Da Vinci Hospital are pleased to have contributed towards the success achieved by Badminton Malta and added that Da Vinci Hospital will continue supporting badminton in Malta for at least the coming two years.
