Blues Brothers chat with the Bradls
In LCR Honda MotoGP’s monthly magazine "Inspire", German rookie Stefan Bradl took part in a rather unusual family chat with his father Helmut, who was once also a rider in the Grand Prix series.
Bradl, who has been in terrific form since entering the MotoGP class this year after last season taking the Moto2 world title, caught up with his father and personal mentor Helmut, who himself was a racing legend in Germany. Their relationship can be likened to an other famous pair of riders, the Blues Brothers.
The pair discussed a range of both serious and light hearted topics, with father Helmut often giving a comedy edge to what was being said. When asked about what the worst thing about the LCR team was, Stefan responded: "At the beginning we were testing the 800cc machine and also the first time in Malaysia I was a bit worried…I remember I could not sleep properly the first night…I did not know the guys and my chief engineer was very strict with me. So that time was very difficult for me and sometimes I thought ‘Maybe I am wrong…Maybe I made the wrong choice...but after some days we found the right confidence and everything is working good now."
Helmut's reply to the same question was, "There’s no German Weissbier in the LCR Hospitality Centre."
