Bronze medal for National Female Basketball team
National Maltese female basketball team acquired a bronze medal in the European Championship for Small Countries after they beat Scotland in the game for third and fourth place.
In the group stage Malta lost 46-85 against Iceland who eventually won the group while they beat Gibraltar 25-93 and finished second in Group B and snagged a place in the semi-finals. Here they met with Austria, who eventually won the competition and lost 58-46. Malta played for the bronze medal next, where they beat Scotland 66-59, ended up in third place, and taking home the bronze medal.
Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sports Chris Agius, congratulates the female Basketball team and coach, Adamoli Angela and her assistant Christoph Stolp for this important victory. He praised the commitment of the Malta Basketball Association under the leadership of President Paul Sultana who in the last month managed to gain 4 medals which included gold from the male National team under 16 years old, silver from the female National team of under 16 years, and silver from the men's National team, to add to this bronze medal from women's National team.
