Cali and Sadowski shortlisted for the European Championships

After a year full of intensive training, and competitions at international levels, the reigning Maltese champions Samuel Cali and Fiorella Sadowski have been rewarded for their hard work. The two players have been shortlisted for the European Championships where they will meet the top players in Europe.

This year’s edition of the European Championships will be held between the 23rd and 27th April in Kazan, Russia. The list of participants include Jan O Jorgensen (DEN) currently ranked fourth in the world, Carolina Marin (SPA) ranked 10th in the world, Christina Pederson and Joachim Fischer Nielsen (DEN) ranked fourth in the world, and many other elite players.

Cali will debut in the Europeans against Michal Rogalski (POL) in the Men’s Singles, whilst Sadowski will be challenging the winning player between Stefani Stoeva (BUL) and Marie Demy (BEL) in the Women’s Singles. Cali and Sadowski will then play together in the Mixed Doubles, where they will face Daniel Font and Sarah Thomas (WAL).

A spokesman for Badminton Malta complimented the two players for all their hard work and wished them luck for the competition. Badminton Malta also expressed its satisfaction for this great achievement for Maltese badminton. This once again evidences the great steps forward which this sport has been making in these last couple of years.
