"The days of glory back to Turin following Conte's arrival" - Luca Fausto Momblano
"Thanks to Antonio Conte, Juventus nowadays resembles the team from the glorious years of the
society and is looking more like the glorious teams led by Marcello Lippi and Fabio Capello."
Words of journalist Luca Fausto Momblano, an Italian football expert and a very close person to the Juventus society, whilst he was taking part in a discussion held at the Juventus Club Cuore Bianconero, Mrieħel.
Momblano reminded all that Conte took over a team that had been acquiring unsatisfactory results for years. "But Conte took over and had to work on his team, strengthening it with transfers with very limited funding. Yet Conte believed that the defense was vital for success, a sector of the squad which was one of the weakest in the league."
The Italian journalist explained that during Del Neri's tenure, the defense was composed of Giorgio Chiellini, Andrea Barzagli and Leonardo Bonucci - three defenders of high quality, highly experienced and even part of the Italian National Team. However all three suffered under past coaches and where limited in expressing their full potential.
"But Conte changed this and found out a way to exploit their capabilities with the insertion of Stephan Lichtsteiner instead of Marco Motta." Momblano also mentioned how Conte managed to recognize the skills of players such as Arturo Vidal, who always played in a more retired position, and moved him in a slightly more advances position which led to the player becoming one of the main pillars of the squad.
Momblano also spoke about the controversy between journalists and Antonio Conte. He stated that Conte considers this issue as a superficial thing because he is only interested in his players and the societ and not in what is said in the media.
At the end of the activity, Momblano expressed his surprise for the organization of the club and the reception received from the Maltese Juventus supporters. During his visit in Malta, he also visited our country's several historical and touristic sites around the Maltese Islands.
