De La Salle aims high
The laying of the new synthetic athletics track in Cottonera has sparked enthusiasm from De La Salle College.
After having played a key role in local athletics in the late 80’s and early 90’s, the club is now making a bid to re-strengthen its structures. The last two years has seen La Salle AC finishing 2nd in the National Clubs League which is organised by the Malta Amateur Athletics Association.
Director of the College Martin Borg together with President of the Club Albert Damato and its Honorary President Alfred Bajada are together working to drive the school forward. “We are once again holding training camps at the school and after school athletics training for our kids. We also have training groups for non-school children as well as an ever growing team of Senior athletes. We hope to be in the forefront of athletics once again,” they said.
The college and the La Salle Athletics Club have in the past been represented by Jenifer Pace Hickey, Tristan Meadows, Kevin Tonna, Mario Bonello, Deirdre Farrugia, and recently Martina Xuereb, Francesca Xuereb, and Diane Borg.
