Final Triathlon Race on September 22
The fourth and final race of the Birkirkara St. Joseph Triathlon Series 2013 will be held on Sunday September on the Salina/Bahar ic-Caghaq Coast Road, starting at 07:30h.
This thirteenth edition of the series attracted 109 male and female triathletes in the first three races. National Champions Keith Galea of Birkirkara St. Joseph and Danica Bonello Spiteri of St. Patrick’s A.C. are currently leading the overall classification in the series.
Unbeaten in all three races, the Birkirkara St. Joseph triathlete needs only to finish the race to wrap up the title, having accumulated over four minutes over his nearest rival Fabio Spiteri of Mellieha A.C.
However the females’ race is a very tight affair. The time difference between Bonello Spiteri and Michelle Vella Wood of Birkirkara St. Joseph is 27 seconds. The latter having beaten the champion in the last two races, makes her the favourite to win the title, although Bonello Spiteri is very much capable of changing the odds.
This series of races is held under the auspices of the Malta Triathlon Federation and sponsored by Festina Watches and The Cyclist of San Gwann.
Due to the race, the Coast Road will be closed for traffic between 07:15h and 09:15h on Sunday.
