First Moto Enduro race of season held
The first Moto Enduro race of this season was held at the ASM Racing Circuits in Ta Qali, where 28 riders raced for gold..
The riders had to ride over natural obstacles, through water pools and over the Motocross and Autocross tracks.
Practice and Heat 1 were run during sunny and cloudy periods but rain shower's poured during Heat 2. Obviously, these conditions slowed down most of the riders.
11 competitors challenged in Class A on 125cc 2Stroke and 250cc 4Stroke bikes. Mark Filletti won this class by finishing the course in 4minutes 38.78secs on his KTM EXC 125cc 2T Bike. Filletti won this class ahead of Trials riders Wayne Zahra on a Yamaha TTR 250cc who registered a time of 4 mins. 53.53secs and ahead of 3rd placed young Rowen Bonello riding a Beta REV 125cc in 5mins. 39.19 secs.
17 riders competed in Class B for bikes of over 250cc. Enduro, Trials and Motocross riders participated in this elite class. Victor Bajada riding his KTM EXC 300cc 2 stroke bike won this class by registering the best ride of 4 mins. 32.66 secs. Victor also performed very well during a rain downpour in his 2nd Heat. Motocross runner-up Carmel Borg had his best time close to Victor’s. Carmel is Runner-up with a ride of 4mins. 33.03secs. on his powerful Honda 450cc.
Both Victor and Carmel won Best Time’s of the day.
Two Quadbike riders made it to this Enduro Challenge. Stefan Fenech riding a Polaris made his best time of 5mins. 29.75secs. Joseph Falzon is runner-up but was forced to retire from the race.
ASM presented Trophies to the best three in each of the classes, A and B, and to the overall winners. Best Time of the Day was registered by Victor Bajada’s 4mins. 32.66 secs best time and Carmel Borg is Runner-Up with 4mins. 33.03secs.
