Fixtures for BOV Football Leagues Drawn

The fixtures for the BOV First, Second and Third Division leagues were drawn by BOV Chief Officer Michael Galea and MFA CEO Bjorn Vassallo with the attendance of a good number of club committee members and members of the media during a press conference held at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana.

The keenly contested divisions will each feature 42 teams, 14 teams in each of the three divisions Not all three same number of participants with matches being played at the Centenary Stadium -Ta Qali, Victor Tedesco Stadium - Hamrun and Luxol Stadium for the 1st Division, whilst Luxol Stadium - Pembroke, Charles Abela Stadium - Mosta and Sirens Stadium - San Pawl il-Bahar, will be the other venues for the lower divisions.  
'We are delighted to be collaborating with the Malta Football Association for the tenth consecutive year as the official sponsor of Malta’s national football leagues,” said Mr Galea.  “Such a long term and sustained commitment underlines the importance that BOV gives to the promotion of sports in Malta as part of its Community Programme,” added Mr. Galea. “Football is, without doubt, the most followed sport and the one with the highest participation in our country. We are pleased that, thanks to our collaboration with the MFA, we are making a direct and tangible contribution that is resulting in more opportunities to participate and enjoy this exciting game with all the positive benefits  that are linked to the participation in sport activities,” concluded Mr. Galea.

The MFA’s CEO Bjorn Vassallo echoed the thoughts and satisfaction of the Bank of Valletta official, reiterating the association’s gratitude towards Bank of Valletta for its backing through its sponsorship of the National League.

“Thanks to the backing and the steadfast collaboration of BOV in the last ten years, the association has been able to oversee a great improvement in the way the National League comprising all divisions is organised and sustained technically and financially. Competition is keen and healthy and the spirit of respect and unity from all the member clubs has reigned supreme. I am confident that this continued co-operation from the Bank will open new horizons for Maltese football.”

MFA Deputy General Secretary Rodney Pisani proceeded to give details about each division. This year's football competitions will kick of with the BOV Super Cup between Valletta and Birkirkara on Friday, 08th of August 2014 with each division kicking shortly afterwards.
