Team Greens switched into another gear by organising a criterium race at the Hal Far Raceway. The pan flat and smooth tarmac produced some exhilarating racing, criterium racing as it is called are short circuit races usually one to 3km long where riders race for an amount of time usually one hour and then given the signal for the final lap.

Hal Far race way is an ideal playing field for this kind of race. Races for cycle nurseries were also held before the main event providing a safe and traffic free circuit where youngsters could refine their skills and test their ability. However when the main race took off it was no ride in the countryside as riders quickly picked up speed and started firing their guns along the way. Many a rider tried to attack in order to break away but with a pan flat circuit and minimal wind the group remained intact till the very end.

Playing your card well was key for success, Steve Sciberras of Birkirkara St Joseph anticipated the final sprint by attacking in the final lap and managing to take the last corner in front of a fierce chasing group of riders. He made it to the line with a mere couple of metres to spare with Etienne Bonello of Team Greens hot on his wheel in second place and Christian Formosa also of Team Greens in third. The race was sponsored by Southeast Café, Consolidated Biscuits & Go&Fun with the collaboration of The Hal Far Race Way, Birkirkara St Joseph & Greens Supermarket.
