IKC Karting Track development approved by MEPA

The Malta Motorsport Federation (MMF) expressed its satisfaction that MEPA has approved the Full Development Permit for the development of a Karting Track at the Island Karting Club (IKC) land passed on by Government to IKC in the year 2004.

The Federation said that this approval was achieved by the determination and commitment of the IKC Committee, which worked very hard since 2007. “Such approval is a very important step for the Club and for motor racing in general,” it said.

At present it will be the only parcel of land that can host a racing circuit for limited motor racing disciplines, namely go-Karting, Scooters, Mini Motos and Quad bikes.

IKC added that the Sport needs more investment and the track is just a step in right direction to showcase the ever increasing enthusiasm and potential that Motor Racing has in Malta.

It said that other disciplines are still in great need to have their playground, and the Federation is fully committed to this call, by carrying out all studies in order to achieve a conclusive approval by the authorities in allocating the land for the development of a multipurpose facility for the benefit of the full motoring community in the Maltese Islands.
