Sliema Stompers did it again yesterday at Marsa Sports Ground as they beat Kavallieri with the final score of 32-5. The first try came early in the game thanks to Dragan Cerketa. Matt Camilleri scored the second try of the game to increase the lead to 10-0 after Schranz managed to break through Kavallieri’s strong defence.

Mario Fountain, after fully recovering from a hamstring injury which he suffered in the first game of the season against B’Kara Alligators, made his memorable return yesterday by improving the Stomper score to 15-0. Despite all of Kavallieri’s efforts, Sliema Stompers continued to dominate the second half where the cheering crowd saw another three tries being made by Jaco arnard, Max Galea and Matt Camilleri respectively.

Chris Zerafa ended the day for Stompers by converting the last try. The absence of Malcolm Attard, a key kicker and ex-captain of the team was without doubt felt throughout the game with only one try being successfully converted. Attard however, made a brief appearance late on as he is currently being eased back into action having been nursing an injury in recent weeks.

Man of the match: Matthew Camilleri
