Valletta Subbuteo Club this weekend kicked off the 2012-2013 Season with an outstanding performance by winning all games, qualifying for the finals, and winning the Gran Prix in Cardiff for the second consecutive year.

Valletta won with full points after defeating Hot Club Escosse and Cardiff B with a score of 4-0. In the quarter finals they won with a score of 3-1 against the Spanish team Tiburones, qualifying them for the semi-finals where they played against the Italian team Sessana and won 3-1. In the finals the capital team faced the Belgian team Stenbart, which is raking first worldwide, and won easily with a score of 3-1, making them winners of this edition.

In the individual categories, Joe Borg Bonaci, a City team player, unfortunately lost his final against Chris Dheur with 0-1.

All the other individual players qualified from their group. Derek Conti lost against Joe Borg Bonaci in the quarter finals. Jean Carl Tabone lost against Dheur in the semi-finals, whilst English player Matt Lampitt, which plays with Valletta, lost with shots in the final sixteen. Player Jason Pisani, who took part in the Veterans category, was eliminated by the Italian player Montana in the Last 16.

The next tournament for the City club is the Champions League, which will be taking place in Athens between the October 27 and 28. This will be the first time that the club will be participating in this competition, after participating in the Europe League in Rome 2 years ago.
