MCCAA launches new website
This morning, The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) launched its new website www.mccaa.org.mt.
The Chairman of MCCAA, Francis Farrugia, explained that websites belonging to different segments of the establishment were already present. However, this website was initiated out of the neccesity to “put everything together." The website will encompassthe services and information of The Office for Competition, The Office for Consumer Affairs, The Technical Regulations Division and The Standards and Metrology Institute.
The Minister for Fair Competition, Small Business and Consumers, Hon. Jason Azzopardi spoke about the functions of the website. The site will fulfill several functions, including the incentive to promote good business, alert the public about products, publish press releases from the Authority, publish the list of medicines with reduced prices, current consultations, a list of the organisations which are certified by the authority and update activities regarding the Trust You Scheme.
Mr Farrugia explained that the ‘News’ section of the website is a significant feature as it will expose viewers to what is going on with the MCCAA on a monthly basis. In the CCT section one can read about the Tribunal as well as submit their complaints.
Minister Azzopardi claimed that the Ministry, as well as the website, takes into consideration both consumers and businesses. He concluded by stating that the website is a “tool for the public” which “empowers” them to further understand and put their rights into practice.
