Star for Emirates inflight entertainment
Emirates’ inflight entertainment system has been awarded the World's Best Airline Inflight Entertainment award at the 2012 SKYTRAX World Airline Awards for the eighth consecutive time. The awards are based on voting by over 18 million airline passengers from 100 different nationalities.
The Information, Communications, and Entertainment (ice) Digital Widescreen offers a choice of over 1,400 channels of entertainment, including up to 300 movies from around the world, hundreds of TV choices and thousands of music tracks of all genres.
In March, the airline introduced a new Graphical User Interface (GUI) which makes content and system features easier to navigate via a “swiping” or “scrolling” functionality.
Furthermore, passengers aboard Emirates’ new Boeing 777 aircraft will now be able to enjoy the ice system on larger personal TV screens with high definition (HD) resolution: 27-inch in First Class, 20-inch in Business Class and 12.1 inch in Economy Class; making the latter the biggest in the world.
“To receive the prestigious SKYTRAX World's Best Airline Inflight Entertainment award for the eighth year in a row is not only a testament to our efforts but illustrates our passenger’s appreciation of our ice system; that is the true reward for us,” said Patrick Brannelly, Emirates’ Vice President Corporate Communications Product, Publishing, Digital & Events, who received the award at the Farnborough Air Show, UK.
Emirates operates flights on a daily schedule from Malta to Dubai via Larnaka, Cyprus.
